Assist with US EPA grant to collect ducks and analyze them for multiple contaminants with two overlapping phases:
(1) During the hunting season, collect ducks from hunters according to specified geographic and species criteria; record information about each bird and maintain chain of custody; deliver birds to secure storage at DEC facilities. (2) Dissect ducks and process samples according to laboratory protocols; prepare samples for shipping to analytical laboratories including required forms and chain of custody; enter data into computer.
Job Function

(2) Dissect ducks and process samples according to laboratory protocols; prepare samples for shipping to analytical laboratories including required forms and chain of custody; enter data into computer.
Salary Range:
From $18.22 to $18.22 Hourly
Minimum Qualification
Thirty (30) semester credit hours, including 12 semester credit hours in fisheries, marine resources or wildlife management; mariculture; marine biology; aquaculture; aquatic, marine or terrestrial ecology; zoology; marine technology; botany; limnology; hydrology; or oceanography. Preferred
Qualifications:
Ability to identify ducks, knowledge of avian anatomy, good communication and organizational skills, record keeping and data management skills, ability to follow protocols; experience with spreadsheets and other computer software.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
